In December 2022, the third edition of the EVOO Forum International Fira de Tots Sants de Cocentaina (Alicante) awards was held. This event, which brought together more than 500,000 visitors, was declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in 2019. This has made it the first trade fair of its kind to obtain this distinction.
This Forum, which was created with the aim of committing to sustainability and the quality of the olive grove, also rewards the best extra virgin olive oils of each season. That is why at Pobill Ecològics we did not want to miss it. Not only because of the attendance of nationally and internationally renowned speakers in the olive sector, but also because our monovarietal Arbequina eco oil received the Silver Award. The jury was made up of specialized personnel from the laboratory and official tasting panel of the Generalitat Valenciana, granting prestige and notoriety to the contest and our award.

Monovarietal Arbequina EVOO, 100% made on the farms of Pobill Ecològics
The Arbequina is a variety native to Palestine that was introduced to Spain by the Duke of Medinaceli, Baron of Arbeca. The Duke lived in said Catalan town and for this reason; this variety has taken its name. From this ancient and traditional variety, we extract the Monovarietal EVOO 100% Arbequina eco from Pobill Ecològics, which has been extracted from our rustic farms Poubonet and Bovalar, in Càlig.
Both farms congregate most of the production of arbequina olives with which the oil that has just received the silver award is made. And not only that, they are also farms from organic farming, our passion, the only way to give back to nature what it gives us. At Pobill Ecològics we use natural resources optimally, thus contributing to preserving plant and animal biodiversity. Likewise, we are committed to promoting the sustainable local development of our term and environment without exploiting it with the use of polluting substances.

Tasting of Arbequina EVOO, a pleasure for the 5 senses
According to professional tasters, our organic Arbequina oil is oil “without defects”. Its positive profile corresponds to a good oil, reaching an equivalent score (UE2568/91) = 7.0 with an aromatic complexity of 5.
This EVOO has an acidity of 0.13, corresponding to good quality olives, and its extraction process is done cold. On the palate it is bitter, with an obvious spiciness, without being annoying, a perceptible sweetness, and a clear astringency on the palate. Its oxidative level is low (peroxides 6.7 meq/kg and K270 0.11), K232 (1.60 +/- 0.22) and contains high levels of polyphenols (main antioxidants in our diet) and vitamin E.
This oil has a medium green fruity profile. The entry into the mouth gives a bitter accompany the fruity aroma, with a predominance of connotations of olive leaves. This good fruity intensity and complexity are characteristics of well-made oil. As for its aroma, when we smell it, we get the essence of freshly cut grass, and hints of olive leaf. Sensations of garden plants such as tomato, almond or green banana are also perceived, as well as touches of new green, which qualify the sweetness in the mouth. Our organic Arbequina oil is perfect to try in vegetable and fruit salads, steamed, grilled or marinated white fish and seafood. Also in confectionery, to add to sauces, mayonnaise, aioli or vinaigrettes. In meat, white rice or pasta it will also enhance the flavour of the ingredients. But sometimes, a good splash of oil in a sandwich is the best way to taste it.
